Les communautés de Tafilalet / Sijilmassa
Cycle de la vie de l'homme
Meyer Nezrit

AWARD-WINNING BOOK!! This book documents and commemorates the Tafilalet / Sijilmassa communities, describing their habits and lifestyle, their Jewish thought and religious and poetic creation for the last 150 years. The book focuses on the description of events related to the individual and family cycle from birth to death. They are accompanied by liturgy and homiletics of scholars. Many of these are now only being published for the first time and are accompanied by explanations and introductions. The book relies on oral testimony, the writings of local scholars and over 200 documents, including marriage certificates and dowries. The author also relies on collections of manuscripts from the Ben-Zvi Institute, the Central Archive of the Jewish People and the Israel Museum. Each chapter includes a description of the local customs, written by the author, showing the sources for them and their parallels in other communities. The book is accompanied by a French abstract.
