This fifth volume of the series These Are The Names – Studies in Jewish Onomastics, includes a selection of articles that reflect the interdisciplinary nature of the study of Jewish names. Scholars who have researched the subject from biblical to modern times apply research tools from various disciplines such as linguistics, geography, history, sociology, Hebrew literature, information studies, the history of halakhah, and customs.
The articles are arranged in alphabetical order of the authors` names. Each article is accompanied by an abstract, in Hebrew for the English articles and in English for the Hebrew articles. As in the former volumes this book too includes comprehensive indices of all the names that are discussed in the articles.
This series will appeal to scholars of Jewish onomastics as well as the general public that takes interest in this subject.
