About: Benjamin Harshav is Professor of Comparative Literature, Hebrew Language and Literature, and Slavic Languages and Literature at Yale University. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. Prof. Harshav founded the Tel-Aviv School of Poetics, The Porter Institute for Poetics and Semiotics and the academic jounal: Hasifrut / Literature at Tel-Aviv University. He is the recipient of the EMET Prize and the Koret Award for research on literary theory and Jewish culture. He published critical editions of his translations of Jewish poetry. He wrote three books on Marc Chagall in English and numerous works in Hebrew.
