About:
Dr. Adia Mendelson-Maoz teaches and develops textbooks at the Open University of Israel in the field of Hebrew Literature. She received a Ph.D in Hebrew Literature from Tel-Aviv University (2002), and served as a post-doc research fellow, with the Rothschild fellowship, at the University of California, Berkeley (2002-2003). Her research is concerned with Israeli culture, Modern and Contemporary Hebrew Literature, Literature in its intersection with ethics, specifically examining the representations of moral problems in modern literature. Among her recent publications: ``A Refugees Cry Brenners The Way Out appears in Australian Journal of Jewish Studies (2004), Checkpoint SyndromeViolence, Madness, and Ethics in the Hebrew Literature of the Intifada appears in Textual Ethos Studiesor Locating Ethics (Rodopi, 2005); ``New Vocabulary of Attention: Representation of Moral Problems in Literature An Aesthetics Perspective appears in: On the Turn: The Ethics of Fiction in Contemporary Narrative in English (Cambridge Scholars Publishing, 2007) and The Rise and the Fall of the New Israeli ManNationalism, Militarism and the Question of Israeli Male Identity forthcoming in: Masculinities in Middle Eastern and North African Literature and Film (Routledge, 2008).
